 K-SOCIETY DIVISION

K-Society Division

The objective of having a division on K-Society is to prepare the community in Perak towards becoming a knowledge society by 2015. It is also to connect community with public and private sectors in an efficient and conducive environment.

Vision and Mission

The vision of a knowledge society can be reflected in a Community System that behaves as the following:
  • A system that transforms culture into one that emphasizes knowledge, excellence and innovation
  • Creating an inventory of internationally recognized goods and services
  • Community that uses knowledge resources to promote public goods, encourage access and equality, provide resources and opportunities
  • Had overcome social, class, ethnic and gender barriers
  • Create a more creative environment
  • Able to reverse the "brain drain" to assist in importing the needed skills
  • Able to strengthen our heritage such as Royal Institutions, museums, arts and historical sites.
And an Education System that:
  • provides every citizen with the opportunity to improve themselves
  • gains secured and high value jobs through lifelong learning and vocational education programs
  • provide all children with quality education
  • locally and globally attractive universities
  • encourage fundamental research as well as applied knowledge in the key niche areas
Programs

To achieve the vision, K-Society Division had come up with these programs:
  • Community Outreach program called "Komuniti Bridz or K-Bridz"
  • Develop Community Access Points (CAPs) or telecentres into a lifelong learning and capability development centres, as well as to provide ICT services to community
  • Komuniti Broadband and local contents development
  • KPerak e-Learning Cluster (KPEC) where five schools were chosen as the test bed on knowledge sharing, exchanging tools and methods on new approaches in learning and teaching (P&P) experiences.
  • Mind Mapping and Memory Skills to Students
  • Topical Workshop on Visual Approach to excel in Mathematics & Physics for SPM
  • Promoting Careers in ICT
  • Collaboration with institutes of higher learning (IHLs) to study the impact of outreach programs
