The KPerak Infomediaries Training
Programme is one of the KPerak INC Corporation’s initiatives
to train the young graduates to become technopreneurs. Here,
they will be the ambassadors of ICT who will help create ICT savvy
communities.
This KPerak
Infomediaries programme is one of the components in the strategy to
reach the aim of being an entry level knowledge state by 2010 - KPerak
2010. This infomediaries programme is to help eradicate the
digital poverty by connecting the community through making ICT a part
of the culture and lifestyle of the masses. Based on the
K-Society strategic direction, this programme aims to increase
awareness, spread the importance of ICT especially to the younger
generation as part of the plan to complete the future generation with
ICT skills.
These young graduates are chosen
after going through a rigorous screening process which includes
aptitute tests and interviews. Which after, they will be
selected to qualify for the Training Programme. 180 hopefuls
came up for the preliminary test and interview rounds for the KPerak
Infomediaries at the Perak Techno-Trade Centre after hearing about it
on Perak FM and reading about it through local newspapers.
Going through a series of IQ, EQ and Aptitude tests, finally 37 of them
qualified to get to the interview sessions and 17 of them qualified for
the Training Programme.
During the
Training Programme, these KPerak Infomediaries are then coached through
entrepreneurship, human capital, technology and infomediaries
modules. Infomediaries are an invaluable source which
collects and arranges data from various sources and will act as a
mediator between those who wish to convey and disseminate information
and those seeking information.
These KPerak
Infomediaries will then journey to villages and outskirts of Perak as
missionaries to spread the religion of ICT and also to create an ICT
awareness to the public, share information with the ever increasing
number of ICT users in Perak and also to always learn about the recent
ICT developments locally and globally to eradiate digital
poverty. Some of the acitivities and programmes that will be
carried out as part of eradiating the digital poverty will be an
outreach programme, training for facilitators and an ICT camp for the
rural and aboriginal school children.
