HIGHER LEARNING INSTITUTIONS

i)   Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) – A wholly owned  subsidiary  of  PETRONAS,  the  national oil  
     company  of  Malaysia,  this  1,000  acre  campus focuses on engineering and technology.
ii)  Universiti Teknologi MARA  (UiTM)  – One  of  the country’s  premier  institutions  since  its  inception  in  
     1956 with 3 satellite campuses, 12 branch campuses, 8 city campuses and 19 ailiated  colleges.
iii)  Politeknik  Ungku  Omar  (PUO)  –  The  oldest polytechnic  in  the  country  established  by  the   
     Malaysian  Ministry  of  Education  with  help  from UNESCO in 1969.
iv) Institut  Teknologi  Perak  (ITP)  –  Established  in 1997 with  the  support  of  the  Perak Government  
     to  provide  students  with  further  training  in electronic  and  electrical  technology,  IT  and  
     business management studies.
v)  Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) – Named after  the first  Prime  Minister  of  Malaysia, UTAR  
     33,000  students  taking  110  courses  spread  over six campuses  in KL, Perak, Penang, Johor,
     Pahang and Sabah.

HOW TO GET THERE?

From Ipoh Town, go towards Jalan Kuala Kangsar and take the North Bound Ipoh Exit which will bring you you onto the North Bound route on  the  PLUS  Highway. The Perak Techno-Trade Centre building is situated on the left-hand side of the PLUS highway.  Take the Jelapang Chemor Lumut exit and go straight after  the first  set of  traffic lights upon exiting the highway.
