Certificate in Digital 3D Modeling

The Digital 3D Modelling programme is designed for individuals who are keen on learning this new and exciting medium of creative expression or seasoned practitioners who want to access their level of competency in the craft.
What subjects are available?
We offer the following Digital 3D Modeling Skil qualifications:Digital Design Basics with Adobe Photoshop, 3D Modeling Basics, 3D Texturing and 3D lighting Theory.
What will I learn?
Digital Design Basics
Introduce the basic functions and techniques as a foundation for churning out creative ideas and visualization efficiently.This will also enable students to realize the application to draw, illustrate and manipulate their work and extend the capability of the traditional media to digital media.
3D Modeling Basics
This course is a comprehensive look at the complete suite of Maya's polygonal and subdivision surface modeling techniques, beginning with primitives and working into complex, finished models.
3D Texturing Theory
The main emphasis of this course enables the student to be more sensitive to their surroundings and to mimic its materials and textures in a 2 Dimensional plane.They will develop a basic understanding of different surfaces, materials, textures and its function.
3D Lighting Theory
Understand the most efficient method to apply 3D Lighting techniques to the 3 environment by the introduction to Lighting in Maya.The emphasis of the course is to produce convincing yet appealing Lighting from simple Enviroments to create mood, focus, atmosphere, time of day and drama.
How will I be assessed?
At Certificate level
Practical Competences
A check list of practical skills that must be demonstrated.
Knowledge Requirements
A two hour written exam with 40 short answear questions and a five hour practical exam with 1 project question.
How long do I need to study?
The recommended guided learning hours for this particular certification is approximately 620 hours (6 months) depending on the centre and individual candidate performance.For further information please contact your nearest training provider.
What can I do after gaining this qualification?
At certificate level a person can work under supervision in aiding and producing quality 3D models with textures applied.A basic understanding in digital lighting and camera work is also present.The person can acquire a position as a standard 3D modeller in a production agency or post-production studio.
Entry Requirements
SPM/ 0-Level GCE or Equivalent.
