KPerak offers a 3-6 month industrial training ("Latihan Industri') to undergraduates of higher learning institutions. This programme aims to enhance students' knowledge on the application of information and communications technology (ICT) in socio-economic development. It will enhance the intern's educational experience through practical work with supervision by experts specialised in various ICT for development (ICT4D) fields.
KPerak hopes that this programme will represent as starting point for industrial trainee involvement in ICT4D. This programme is intended to introduce avenues for the acquisition of ICT4D knowledge, opportunities for learning and networks for knowledge sharing. Industrial trainees can build on this experience and contribute to the advancement of ICT4D, and create innovations toward meeting the national development goals.
This programme is opened to students who are enrolled in an undergraduate or higher degree programmes with specialisation in an area which directly relates to KPerak's substantive (basic and core) work programmes.
The applicants who are pursuing their studies in other level of higher education such as certificate and diploma level must have completed at least two years of full-time studies at a higher learning institution or equivalent.
The duration should not exceed six (6) months, with a minimum period of three (3) months.
The industrial trainee will only be paid a daily token of RM10.00 by KPERAK and will not be considered a staff member, hence, he/she will not be entitled to the privileges and immunities accorded to staff members of KPERAK.
All expenses connected with the industrial training, such as travel costs to and from the duty station (workplace), travel arrangements and living accommodation, are the responsibility of the student or the sponsoring institution.
The student is responsible for obtaining any necessary work permits or related documents.
KPERAK will not accept any responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the industrial training and the students, therefore, must ensure that they have appropriate medical and life insurance coverage for the entire period of the training.
The trainee undertakes to conduct himself/herself at all times in a manner compatible with his/her responsibilities as a trainee in KPERAK's industrial training programme.
The trainee must keep confidential any and all unpublished information made known during the course of the industrial training and not publish any reports or papers on the basis of information obtained except with the authorization of KPERAK.
